List

List sidebars (aka, quick links) are helpful in presenting a list of links related to the page, your services, of your department.

The links can go to:

  • pages within your website (internal links)
  • pages on other websites (external links)
  • documents

Once created, a List content set can be reused throughout a website without having to be recreated on each page.

The List content set subtype is available in both themes of GW Drupal.

Create a List

  1. Hover over My Workbench > Create Content
  2. Click on Content Set

A blank content entry page will load.

  1. Select List from the required Subtype dropdown options
  2. Add items to your list
    • Onsite Content: pages within your website
      • Type in the name a page you'd like to include in the List
        • Drupal will display a list of matching pages
        • Select the appropriate page
          • You must select from the list. Do not simply type the page's name into the field

    • Offsite Link: any other website (including other GW websites)
      • Type in the name an the external website or webpage you'll link to
      • Paste in the page or website address in the URL field
      • Check the "Open in a new browser window" checkbox

    • Onsite Downloads: (links to documents)
      • Upload documents using the File Browser link
        • Documents added to the List will display the file type as an icon

  3. Click the Add Another Item button under the respective section to add more links to the List
  4. Scroll down to the bottom of the page
  5. Click on the Publishing Options panel
  6. Set the Moderation State to Published
  7. Click the Save button

Add a List to a Page

Note: this will only work on pages with didebars. Pages that do not have sidebars are not optimized for displaying the List content set. A workaround to this is to add your List to a Mini Panel.

  1. On the desired page, click the New Draft tab
  2. Scroll down to the Right Sidebar Content and/or Left Sidebar Content fields
  3. Type in the name of your List sidebar content set
    • Drupal will display a list of matching content items
  4. Select the appropriate item
    • You must select from the list. Do not simply type its name into the field
  5. Scroll down to the bottom of the page
  6. Click on the Publishing Options panel
  7. Set the Moderation State to Published
  8. Click the Save button

On the Homepage

By default, the homepage of the GW Drupal Classic theme website has a content pane on standby for displaying the List sidebar. To allow your List to display there, you simply need to give it a Site Placement value of "Home" before it is published.

If the List does not display, that likely means that its content pane has been deleted. A Site Administrator will need to restore the GW Content Set - List Home Page content pane back to the homepage via the Customize this Page button in order for the feature to work as expected.

On a Subpage

  1. On the desired page, click the New Draft tab
  2. Scroll down to the Right Sidebar Content and/or Left Sidebar Content fields
  3. Type in the name of your List sidebar content set
    • Drupal will display a list of matching content items
  4. Select the appropriate item
    • You must select from the list. Do not simply type its name into the field
  5. Scroll down to the bottom of the page
  6. Click on the Publishing Options panel
  7. Set the Moderation State to Published
  8. Click the Save button
